About the program

From the legal orderto legal practice

The program works through the branches that hold up the profession: civil, criminal, commercial, constitutional, administrative, amparo and tax law. Each one arrives with its own procedure, because a right you cannot enforce is not worth much.

Oral trials and the amparo proceeding start in the third term, and the final terms are given over to civil and commercial practice, forensic medicine and criminology, with two graduation seminars closing the program.

Graduate profile

The lawyeryou will become

By the end of nine terms you will know how to read the legal order, build an argument that holds and take it before whoever has to rule on it. These are the four capabilities you leave ICES with.

  • Analysis of the legal order

You interpret the rules in force and the institutional order behind them, from civil to constitutional law, and identify the legal problem underneath.

  • Litigation and procedure

You take a case down its own route — oral trials, amparo, criminal, labour and agrarian matters — with the drafting and argument each stage demands.

  • Counsel and contracts

You draft and review contracts, handle notarial, commercial, tax and administrative matters, and guide people and companies through compliance.

  • Ethics and social responsibility

You practise in line with legal philosophy and ethics, alert to the environmental, social and rights dimension every case carries.
