About the program

Constitution, amparoand human rights

The program starts with the frame: constitutional law, international organizations and treaties, and the contemporary models that changed how a constitution is read. On top of that come human rights and their national and international protection mechanisms.

The amparo proceeding runs through three consecutive terms, alongside conventionality review and legal argumentation. Two research seminars close the program with work of your own.

Graduate profile

The master in constitutionallaw you will become

By the end of five terms you will be able to build a constitutional argument and take it as far as the case requires. These are the four capabilities you leave ICES with.

  • Constitutional reasoning

You analyse the legal and social problems set out in the Constitution and apply contemporary models of constitutional law to a concrete case.

  • The amparo proceeding

You bring and follow an amparo through its several routes, with the constitutional procedural law and the argument each stage demands.

  • Defence of human rights

You protect people against general norms through national and international mechanisms, conventionality review included.

  • Legal research

You frame a legal problem with a method of your own and carry it through to a piece of research you can defend.
